I’ve got a varied background. I started out studying 20th Century History and Astronomy. Eventually that lead to an interest in Planetary Geology and Geophysics. I went to graduate school at Purdue where I studied line-of-sight gravity of Venus in order to determine the crustal structure of the planet. When I graduated there were very few jobs in planetary sciences. So I eventually made my way to the Ocean Drilling Program. It’s a bit of a leap from Venus to the sea floor, but we probably understand each of them equally well. I’m now helping to run the downhole logging program of the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program. But I still have a love of planetary sciences. |
