Bio

I am a second generation female engineer.  My mother was an Elecrical Engineer who worked for IBM for 25 years and has since retired to be CFO for a large scale high end housing development company.  She just finished building a golf course and a 75 house 2 arce lot housing project.  We live in and around Rochester Mn and the area is still doing well if you are a doctor (home of the Mayo Clinic).
I started out my career with a degree in Mathematics, teaching Jr High.  When the school had a budget cut, IBM was looking for a Manufacturing Quality Engineers.  Think Statistics, Data mining, and fixing problems (oh and yelling at people who screw up..nicely of course).  I still laugh with glee over my job.
I have slowly been transferring into a role that works with the hardware devlopers and commercial hardware manufacturers to develop and build products that have high quality, high performance, and design for manufacturing simplicity.
I got to work on the Lawrence Livermore project (the existing worlds fastest computer) and one of my products is going into the Sequoia (the so to be fastest computer). I have worked on quality and design for manufacturing issues on just about every piece of hardware found in a server and have been actively involved in Process and Lean Manufacturing improvements.
I enjoy being a Quality Engineer and am glad I followed in my Mom’s footsteps.
