I think you guys need to add some links at the top of the thread that lead you back to the other threads or to the homepage of the forum. Because whenever I go into viewing a thread, in order to get back to the main page to view all the topics I have to click on ‘Community’ at the very top of the page. There should be some links back to the main topic page at the top of the thread you are viewing instead.

I just noticed that none of us have our photos up, I was just wondering why? It might be a commentary on the safety women feel in the anonymity of the internet, but I wanted to pose it as a possible topic. I don’t really want to put my photo up because I vent about work, but maybe we could think of a way to make the photos anonymous too, like here are the members’ photos but they are not by their screen names, what do you think?

i love this site, but i’m not 100% clear on who’s behind this whole project. Is nerd girls a sub-group under IEEE? Are the forum moderators the same people who’s profile pictures we see on the other pages?

there are the nerd girls on the profiles page, the nerd girls in the you tube video, us nerd girls on the forum… and the overlap or lack thereof is kinda confusing. Are there going to be more profiled nerd girls on the other pages? how do you get to the inner circle of nerd girldom? are we going to start chapters?

i’ve been running forums since forever and so far it looks like you’ve got a potentially awesome one going! I just had two suggestions:

first, it’d be nice to see a new member intro forum. i know these are kind of pointless and seem like wasted space but it brings people into the community.

second, i’m not crazy about the color scheme here… the dark background makes it hard to focus on the text, especially if something lighter-colored is going on, anywhere.

just my $0.02.

Site Suggestion

First, thank-you for creating this forum. I have been searching high and low for an online community where I feel wanted, accepted, and comfortable. I am going to invite my sisters to join, one works a biomedical job and the other is still in college studying arabic linguistics and business.

Second, I’d like to suggest a “General Conversation” forum category where folks can discuss anything not related to the other topics. It’s nice to have a home where intelligent conversation occurs. But, we should also be able to discuss things that are off-topic to the other categories to promote community rapport and bonding. I can see this site getting big, friendships made, and community meets/events planned.

My two cents.

I find the white text on a dark background difficult to read. It’d be really nice if a profile-preference for an alternative, external CSS design.
