Hi All,

I didn’t go for my degree right after high school.  When I was 23 years old, I started at Northern Essex Community College and later transferred to Merrimack College.  I graduated in July of 2005 (when I was 31 years old) with a BS in Electrical Engineering and a Computer Science concentration.  Although there were 4 girls out of 30 students in the program when I started, I was the only girl to graduate in 2005.  (I should mention that all of the girls graduated with EE degrees).  I work for Polycom, which is the company I did my first Coop with.  I’ve been working at Polycom for 9 years now in the SQA department.  People often ask me why I don’t transfer to development.  My answer is that I get bored very easily and QA is very diverse.
Hello to all, and thank you for starting nerd girls!

i think that “returning for degree” thing is more common than we make it out to be.  we tell high school kids that this ONE PATH is so important… honestly I think it freaks them out.  who can really guess what you’re going to be when you’re 18 years old?  nobody.  I lucked out, but not everyone else does.

anyway, welcome!
